A Belgian journalist recently wrote: You sleep in authentic Dutch charm.
And this is correct; you stay the night in one of the first mansions
(1875) built on fortified ground after 1870. These mansions were for
the people of consequence. We maintain the characteristics of
this mansion the best we can. Here, we welcome guests from all over the
world since 1955, ...so here’s a rich history and experience. A mixture
of people and nationalities, a warm atmosphere and ambience.
All our rooms have a homelike and cosy arrangement and are equipped
with television and DVD-player. Music and movie discs are available.
With your own laptop you can access the internet wireless and for free
(adaptors available). Some of our rooms have free coffee- and tea
facilities. Here, there is also a room with an old dutch bedstead (De
Barones) and a Suite of rooms with a romantic teakwooden four-poster
bed. The guestrooms are divided into various sections. Every section
has a private entrance and there is lockable bicycle shed. In short, an
ideal place to stay for bussiness people, tourists, rest seekers and
romanticists. Of course, we serve a complete breakfast in our cosy living room.
Our Bed & Breakfast is unique and beautiful located in the centre,
on the old canal (Singelgracht), on 2 minutes walking distance from the
Central Station, Citypark Valkenberg and the Castle of Breda (KMA) and
on 5 minutes walking distance from the Market Square, Spanjaardsgat,
Chassé Theatre, Casino and Bredasch Museum. Our B&B is also an
ideal starting point for walking and cycling tours and regional
excursions. We can provide you with information.

Over de accommodatie zelf kan ik niet oordelen. Zover zijn we niet geraakt.
Wij komen van Gent, dus via Brussel en Antwerpen, naar Breda. Drukte en file verzekerd. Dit had ik ook meegegeven tijdens mijn telefonisch contact met de accommodatie.
Worden we opgebeld door de gastvrouw, terwijl we onderweg zijn, om ons te vertellen dat ze gaat sluiten. Wij zijn nog een 45-tal minuten verwijderd van onze bestemming en kunnen dus geen kant uit. “We moesten dan maar iets anders zoeken voor die nacht” zei de vrouw. We hebben op verschillende manieren geprobeerd om een manier te vinden om toch aan de sleutel te geraken, bv. ergens oppikken, omrijden… Ze wou echter absoluut niet mee zoeken naar een oplossing. Na veel heen en weer gepraat, waar de gastvrouw steeds 'nee' antwoordde op al onze voorstellen, hebben we dan maar een andere plek gezocht om te slapen. En dat om 9u 's avonds, in een stad die je niet kent. Ongelofelijk dat er nog zo'n mensen bestaan. Gelukkig was onze nieuwe accommodatie, het gr8 hotel in Oosterhout, een geweldig hotel met supergoed en begripvolle service!
